creating places of belonging
There is no place like the place we belong to (adapted from David Whyte, House of Belonging).
We all want to feel that we belong somewhere, to have a sense of home, of where we come alive, and where we come to rest. “Home” gives us a sense of place, of purpose. It is an ineffable anchor connecting us to family, to community, to culture and to a meaningful life.
The Bitou Community Foundation Trust exists to support those who are working to build a sense of place, of belonging, of compassionate care, of conservation and community in the Bitou Region.
We identify registered, accountable Public Benefit Organisations that demonstrate leadership in their efforts to contribute directly to community, education, health, wellbeing and conservation of the communities of Bitou, safeguarding the environmental value of the region to its residents and to those who visit its shores.
“To follow a trail is to remember how it goes, making one’s way in the present is itself a recollection of the past… onward movement is itself a return” –
